About me
Hello, I’m Umeko, a kimono enthusiast, and I’m the one running this website.
I was born and raised in Japan, and I currently reside here.
I launched this site to share the beauty of kimono and to spread awareness about authentic kimono among many people.
I first discovered the beauty of kimono over a decade ago when I saw numerous furisode (long-sleeved kimono) at a kimono store.
I remember being overwhelmed by their beauty.
All of them were wonderful and it was very difficult for me to choose only one.
A few years ago, I found that my grandmother used to love and collect kimonos, and some were still preserved.
Intrigued by the idea of wearing my grandmother’s kimonos, I learned how to put them on. The more I learn about kimonos, the more I become captivated by their profound charm, and it has become a hobby of mine.
Currently, I’m studying Japanese traditional dance to enhance the gracefulness of my movements when wearing kimonos.
Even when feeling weary, just looking at a kimono can uplift my spirits.
It’s essential to my life.
Kimono is generally perceived as expensive attire reserved for special occasions, but that’s not the whole truth.
By skillfully utilizing recycled kimonos, you can enjoy the experience without breaking the bank. Most of the kimonos I own are actually recycled items.
I believe that kimonos are not just garments and one doesn’t need to spend a fortune to enjoy them.
Purpose of this website
I’m a Kimono lover and want to share what is the Kimono correctly.
Unfortunately, when I search “Kimono” on the internet, many counterfeit kimonos are being sold under the name of kimono.
This makes me to feel sad and frustrated.
I’d be happy if I could share the right information about Kimono with many people and I want you to know you can easily enjoy the Kimono more than you could imagine.
In this website, I will not refer to the difficult rules and complicated information about Kimono.
Just focus on sharing the ideas of how to enjoy Kimono easily.
I hope this website can help your happy Kimono life.
